ABSTRACT
We
performed interspecific crossings between Cryptocoryne
species from various geographical regions: India and Sri Lanka, Vietnam and
Borneo, within the Philippines and within New Guinea. The success rate (11%)
for these crossings is comparable to those found in similar crossings between
species
from Malay Peninsula, Borneo, and Sumatera and other
regions. The success rate drops to 4% when the combinations include species
from geographical distant areas and with different chromosome groups.
