ABSTRACT
Pinellia browniana
Dunn, an enigmatic rhizomatous species from Southeast China, is reinstated as a
distinct taxon. Formerly known as P. fujianensis
H. Li & G.H. Zhu, it differs from other Pinellia
species by a rhizomatous habit, bulbil-devoid-petioles, broadly sagittate
blades and bulbilate peduncles. Observations based on
new living material confirmed its taxonomic identity and adaptations to
subtropical climates of its rhizomatous habit is also
discussed.
